For many people sound quality means the character of the sound heard in a confined space. Quality of the sound heard in a room depends on room geometry and materials constituting interior surfaces.
Acoustical design is based on the intended usage of a room. For example a room that has a good acoustic for music may not be suitable for speech. Different purposes require different acoustical designs.
